What is a dilated eye exam?

Posted by on Sep 17, 2013 in | Comments Off

A dilated eye exam is when the doctor uses eye drops to make the pupil open wider than it normally is. A bright light is used to see the entire back of the eye and the retina to make sure the eye is healthy. Many diseases can be detected in the eye before they are detected elsewhere in the body, such as diabetes and hypertension. A complete eye exam every year is an important part of maintaining your health.
